Description of the theme of the work: Against the exclusion and marginalization of women; against the erasure of women from history, power, politics and culture. Another meaning: critique of contemporary narcissism in the age of digital culture; critique of the obsessional repetition of selfies, until headlessness.
Jeanne d’Arc, still in flames
The series Red Night (La Passion de Jeanne d’Arc) deals with the duality of visionary mystic’s passion. For a mystic her passion means a request for truth but also extreme suffering. One part of the strife is the conflict with community, or, exclusion. First death sentence, then birth of an adored saint, as was the case with Joan of Arc.
Red Night (La Passion de Jeanne d’Arc) III (2021), displayed at Urbanside Gallery, Zürich, untill 4 March 2022
